From 24th Oct. to 25th Oct, the 11th China-Japan Architecture Structure Technique Forum was held in our university. The forum was sponsored by China Institute of Building Standard Design and Research and was organized by Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
Professor Zhu Hongping, the Dean of School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics, the Distinguished Professor of Yangtze River Scholars and the Chairman of Organizing Committee, hosted the opening ceremony and Vice President Luo Qingming gave an opening address on behalf HUST. Professor Zhu Hongping, on behalf of HUST, delivered a keynote report about “Research on Seismic Reduction and Isolation Design and Performance Optimization of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge”, which aroused a heated discussion among experts from China and Japan.
The China-Japan Architecture Structure Techniques Forum was established in 1993, and since then, it has built up a bridge for scholars from both China and Japan to communicate with each other about advanced technology as well as cooperation and consensus. The forum has played an important role in enhancing communication and understanding as well as promoting the techniques innovation on architecture structures, and it has gradually become the most influential academic exchange platform between China and Japan in the architecture structure area.
The 11th forum has attracted nearly 400 scholars from China, Japan, Taiwan (China) and Hong Kong (China), including Cui Hongchao, the Honorary Chairman of China-Japan Architecture Structure Technique Exchange Association, Ren Qinying, the Chairman of China-Japan Architecture Structure Technique Exchange Association, Academician Ou Jinping, Qiu Shanhong, the Honorary Professor of Tokyo University, WADA Akira, the Honorary Professor of Tokyo Institute of Technology and other leading experts in architecture structure area. The scholars had extensive exchanges covering the following four areas: seismic design theory of structure, engineering design and research, seismic reduction and isolation technique and seismic hardening as well as application of new techniques and new materials.
This forum has achieved great success and all the representatives have highly praised the organization, reception and arrangement by our university.
