With the Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences of NSFC as the sponsor, Key Laboratory of Structural Analysis and Safety Evaluation of Hubei Province and the editorial board of Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica as co-sponsors, the Advanced Summer Institute on “Multi-Scale Mechanics Theory, Experiment And Simulation” was successfully held from 23rd to 27th August 2015 in the Center for International Academic Exchanges of HUST. Seven famous experts from related fields were invited to give lectures, who have covered the latest research achievements, development trends and applications of “Multi-Scale Modeling of Solid Mechanics Theory”, “Multi-Scale Simulation Techniques of Solid Mechanics” and “Multi-Scale Experiment Characterization Techniques of Solid Mechanics”. More than 140 doctoral candidates and young teachers have attended this summer institute.
MENG Qingguo, the executive deputy director of Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences of NSFC, ZHAN Shige, the head of the Mechanics Division, ZHANG Panfeng , the deputy director of the Mechanics Division, CHEN Jianguo, the vice president of HUST, ZHU Hongping, the dean of School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics and ZHANG Tingjiao, the vice head of Longitudinal Research and International Cooperation Division of Research and Development Office of HUST as well as Prof. WEI Yueguang from Institute of Mechanics of CAS, Prof. GUO Xu from Department of Engineering Mechanics of Dalian University of Technology, Prof. SHAN Zhiwei from School of Materials Science and Engineering of Xi`an Jiaotong University and Prof. LIU Bing from School of Aerospace Engineering of Tsinghua University attended the opening ceremony of this summer institute.
