With the School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics of HUST and Research Center of Digital Construction and Safety Engineering of Hubei Province as initiators, the National Key Technology R&D Program of the 12th Five-Year Plan, namely “Key Technical Research and Application Demonstration of Safety Control for Metro Engineering” has successfully passed the overall examination held by experts in Beijing on June 25th. This program was organized by Ministry of Education and conducted by Huazhong University of Science and Technology as the initiator. The total expenditure of this program is 85,150,000 yuan, including special funding of 27,520,000 yuan for National Key Technology R&D Program. There are in total five subjects, respectively conducted by Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China Academy Of Safety Science and Technology, Beijing Metro Construction and Installation Engineering Company, Tongji University and Shenzhen Metro Group Co., Ltd.
The evaluation panel consists of two expert groups. The project acceptance group was made up with technical experts including DU Yanliang, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and other nine experts from Beijing National Railway Research and Design Institute of Signal and Communication Ltd., Beijing Metro Ltd., Beijing Rail Transit Design Institute, China Academy of Building Research, China Metallurgical Construction Research Institute, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Nanjing University of Technology and Wuhan Metro Group. The financial evaluation group includes two senior accountants from Beijing Research Institute of China Telecom Corporation Limited and China Institute of Veterinary Drugs Control. Hearing the statement of the implementation of the program and financial condition, the expert panel agreed after questioning and defense that this program was set up under the background of metro construction, pilot run and operation safety, and was aimed to carry out researches on metro public security by focusing on risk identification, forewarning and forecasting as well as safety control, which attached great importance to this program. As a multidiscipline subject, the program covered various research fields. Program members have accomplished expected research subjects, obtained great achievements, produced innovative products and set an applicable example for many projects. The evaluation panel held that the program was standard and complete in evaluation documents; the organization was well managed under comprehensive regulations during the process; the expenditure was reasonable. As a result, the evaluation panel agreed that the program passed the overall examination.
