Recently, the foreign graduate student S. K. Sadat Shokouhi, a master under the instruction of Professor Zhu Hongping, received the honor certificate of 2015Liu Huixian Earthquake Engineering Scholarship from the Secretariat of Heilongjiang Huixian Earthquake Engineering Foundation. In July this year, the winners of 2015 Liu Huixian Earthquake Engineering Scholarship were announced and nine applicants from both China and America were awarded with this scholarship, which was co-founded by Heilongjiang Huixian Earthquake Engineering Foundation (China) and US-China Earthquake Engineering Foundation (US). This is the first time for students of our school to win this award.
Heilongjiang Huixian Earthquake Engineering Foundation (China) and US-China Earthquake Engineering Foundation (US) were founded to commemorate Professor Liu Huixian, the founder of China’s earthquake engineering. The establishment of this scholarship aims to award the innovations and explore for as well as cultivate talents in earthquake engineering research to promote the development of earthquake engineering by providing guidance and funds for masters doing fundamental research as well as applied research in earthquake engineering and its related subject areas. Since the first selection in 2006, 107 masters in total have received this honor. These winners are from outstanding universities and scientific research institutes both at home and abroad, including California Institute of Technology, University of California (Berkeley, Davis and Santiago), University at Buffalo, the State University of New York, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Nanyang Technological University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Taiwan University, National Central University (Taiwan)， Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Wuhan University, Tongji University, Dalian University of Technology, Beijing University of Technology, Nanjing University of Technology, Hunan University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Southeast University, Hohai University and Engineering Mechanics China Research Institution of Seismological Bureau.
